Workshops At Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference
Exciting News! It may be the depths of winter, but I’ve got spring dreams on my mind…
This May 23-25, 2025, I am deeply honored to be hosting two workshops at the Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference in Almond, WI, Plants & Planets and What the Heart Holds, These gatherings are more than just opportunities to share knowledge—they are sacred spaces where we can come together to learn, cross pollinate, and grow community amidst the vibrant life of summer’s unfolding. My herbal journey truly took root at Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference in 2019 when I was on the board of Driftless Folk School and this feels like a full circle moment. I made amazing connections I still hold to this day and found wisdom from teachers and other women on the plant path.
Plants & Planets will invite us to explore the profound interplay between the celestial and the earthly. Whether you are familiar with your sun sign, or follow the moon phases, this workshop will explore herbal and astrological connections for a deeper connection to self and the cosmos with a focus on the moon as a personal luminary for alignment and flow. Together, we will delve into ancient traditions and modern insights, discovering ways to align more intentionally with the rhythms of the cosmos and the grounding presence of the earth beneath our feet.
What the Heart Holds will be a heartfelt journey into the resilience and tenderness of the human spirit. Through a lens of Black and feminist frameworks, we will learn how herbs can be utilized daily and intentionally to support our human nervous systems. We will expand our capacity to access our breath for transformation and explore how herbs can be used in simple yet effective ways to create healing spaces. The focus will be on healing for women, black people, brown people, and communities of color. We will learn techniques for holding and acknowledging the different shades of grief, reflecting on the heart’s immense capacity to carry grief, joy, and connection, and share practices that nurture inner strength and foster collective healing.
These workshops are more than just sessions; they are invitations to step away from the busyness of everyday life, to connect in real time with kindred spirits, to the plants, and to nurture a sense of belonging in a world that often feels so fragmented. In this space, we have the chance to truly see one another and to weave threads of community that sustain and uplift us.
One of the most exciting aspects of this conference is the opportunity to hear Robin Wall Kimmerer, the beloved author of Braiding Sweetgrass and The Serviceberry, as the keynote speaker. Robin’s work has touched countless lives, reminding us of the sacred reciprocity between humans and the natural world. To hear her wisdom in person, surrounded by a gathering of women dedicated to healing and connection, is an experience I am certain will stay with us all long after the weekend ends.
I warmly invite you to join me this summer. Let’s step into this vibrant, supportive community together—learning, laughing, and creating something truly beautiful. For more details and registration, visit the Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference.
I’m excited about gathering in community. This is a season to root ourselves deeply in connection with the plants, to open our hearts to growth and renewal. I can’t wait to share this journey with you.
