Welcome friends,

I’m Alyson Morgan, a writer, photographer, folk herbalist + mother, sharing my stories on this path to a slow, wild + wholehearted life.

weaving ecological awareness into everyday rhythms + rituals

My everyday, from canning homegrown pickles to tending our garden, is rooted in my deep desire to reclaim our relationship with the earth and each other by slowing down. I work imperfectly each day to give myself wholly to the earth. My writing, photography, online apothecary, and collaborations are all an intuitive + intentional extension of my passion.

Although my degree is in International Relations with an emphasis on Climate Change, Natural Resource Use + Global Health at University of California, Davis, my focus is healing. More than simply understanding how global capitalism affects everyday folk and our sacred planet, I use my knowledge to help others divest from those systems with small but meaningful, tangible actions, like hanging laundry to dry, maintaining a compost pile, or knowing where your food comes from. Embracing the simple anti-capitalistic joys. It’s a pathway to help reimagine our collective future, and to cultivate the intangible: sovereignty, empowerment + interconnection

WHO ARE FLOWER ESSENCES FOR?

You, who are searching for a grounded spirituality amidst climate chaos. You, who wish to be in right relationship with others and the earth. You, who are decolonizing your hearts + minds. You, who are reclaiming your worth and crafting intentional lives.

With herbs + flowers by your side, you are never alone. My wish is for you to carry pieces of earth in your pockets and stop when you hear the birdsong. To weave the earth into everything you do.

I started offering my small-batch flower essences after experiencing the deep healing and guidance available to us when we connect with the natural world. I come from a lineage of black business owners, my grandfather and great-great-great-grandmother, and I try to infuse my business with their perseverance and legacy.

I grow the blossoms in my garden, where I listen as the plants tell me which blooms to bring together into a formula. Then I craft the essences in small batches on our homestead.

Alyson’s way with words is similar in essence to her way with the earth. Her ability to distill the potent down to the digestible leaves us wanting more. She has a gentle yet powerful way of conveying knowledge that goes beyond the traditional. Her images are poetry. Her words are full of the very wisdom we need now more than ever. As she says, we are living in a time of an unveiling, and this book does that and so much more.—
