The Art of Being Seen | A Snow Full Moon

On this Full Moon in Leo, we locate the radiant essence within us all— often buried under expectation, fear, & conditioning. An invitation to reconnect & to shed layers with a breath work ritual.

I usually aim to share writings on Fridays, but as this Snow Full Moon is happening midweek, I wanted to give you time to prepare and create space within your hectic lives to practice along with this powerful lunation before eclipse season rolls through to shift our course. I’m finding as we descend even more into political chaos and instability, ritual, play, and intentional time is keeping me somewhat afloat. And spring, is on the horizon…

Gathering on a Snow Moon.

The sun is gaining strength in the sky, and so are we. This Midwinter Full Moon is in the sign of Leo, opposing the Sun in Aquarius, also in an exact square with Uranus. Which by its nature is earth shattering, bringing the potential energy of upheaval.Leo is ruled by the Sun, and calls us to step into our fullest, most radiant expression, while Aquarius reminds us that we are part of something larger. Leo carries the archetypal energy of the Sovereign, the Performer, and the Eternal Flame; a force of bold self-expression, confidence, and creative vitality. Leo is the part of us that longs to be seen, not for approval, but because shining is its truest nature. It is the child who dances without self-consciousness, the artist who creates from the heart, the leader who inspires through authenticity.

At its highest, Leo teaches us the power of courage, generosity, and devotion to our own creative fire. At its shadow, it warns of egoic attachment, the fear of irrelevance, and the ache of feeling unseen. To embody Leo is to step into our light, unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and with the knowledge that true radiance is not about being the brightest, but about being unmistakably you. Where do you find the strength to be you??

This lunation, also called the Moon When Trees Crack from Cold by the Lakota, and asks us to balance the personal expression with the collective need, to honor both our individuality and our belonging.“I no longer want to ignore the roar deep inside of me,instead let it infuse my every move.”When my uncle died last spring, my mother asked me where I thought his essence, his light, had gone. I grew up in the Catholic Church, yet I have spent the last twenty years dissecting those very beliefs. What remains constant, though, is what I shared with her: we are all connected. Across the past, present and future. Our consciousness is an ocean. When we are born onto this one and only Earth, we are animated, enlivened by a drop of this consciousness. And when we leave this earthly realm, we return to the sea, a limitless home. I don’t know if it’s “true”, but it’s what I believe—and in these times of upheaval and mayhem, I am choosing wisely the ideas I want to hold onto.

I’ve been taking a creative respite to nourish my soul.

This Full Moon in Leo graces the skies February 12, 2025, is a time to stand in your confidence and express yourself boldly. It is an invitation to embrace your inner world, honor your emotions, and pursue your creative passions. Writers, poets, artists—anyone who channels the unseen into form, tap into this force, this collective consciousness and this light. We are each an expression of something infinite, and when we allow it, it moves through us, shaping our words, our art, our very presence in the world.

Thank you for your patience as I will be exploring options to make posts and entries from Human Nature available here on my website as well. For now, to read more, subscribe to Human Nature on Substack.
