home takes time | kitchen selections
our kitchen has proven to be the heart of our home. all of the selections we made during the design and in the build process were to create a hopefully timeless foundation. there were so many decisions to be made as we designed our home, not an architect or design firm, and let me tell you it is not for the faint of heart.
as we have been living into our spaces i see these choices and materials as the canvas for us to layer and live into over time.
I love some of the key design choices we made for this space because of their ease. One of them is our countertops. The Statuario Nuvo from Caesarstone is just the right amount of veining and warm undertones to compliment and bring depth to our shaker cabinetry painted in Farrow and Ball Stirabout and the walnut island designed by our builder and I. We used Caesarstone in our last home kitchen remodel and loved how it reflected light and was quite durable standing up to our daily use and simply cleaning, soap and water.
We chose soft edges and to take the counter up the wall to act as a backsplash with a small display ledge. In our last home, we did a tile backsplash, which I absolutely adored but found it a bear to clean and keep looking clean. With this, after a splash from the stovetop, it is easy to wipe down and keep clean. Paired with brass hardware from Rejuventation which go so well with the countertops. Simple, seamless and warm for our cozy fall mornings and evenings gathered in the kitchen to make soup and do homework.
