Forest Bathing | Holiday Herbal Gift Giving with Ball® Canning
This post is a sponsored post by Ball® Canning. All of my opinions and experiences are my own. Many thanks to the brands that support my work here on Maia Terra. I truly appreciate you for your support in engaging with my sponsored posts.
I’m always a fan of handmade gifts. I love crafting something special for the folks in my life. I seriously turn into a holiday elf come the last week of November. I love making gifts that are consumable, meaning they are used up and then done, little to no waste. I love gifting my items in Ball® CanningJars. One because they make the most beautiful, simple, sustainable and useful packaging. One that can be used for another day after my gift has been used and loved. This year i’ll be gifting summer jams + herbal goodness in Ball® Canning Jars. Durable enough to travel in the mail and beautiful enough to sit on the shelves of friends and family.
I’m excited to share this seasonal recipe from Herbal Academy’s Botanical Skin Care Book with you. This recipe combines my love of self care, wildcrafted herbal elements in a Ball® Canning jar! Can it get anymore perfect?
This recipe is for Evergreen Forest Bath Salts featuring juniper berries, wildcrafted pine needles, sea salt and an a pine infused oil for a nourishing herbal blend.
Evergreen Forest Bath Salts
recipe shared with permission from Herbal Academy Botanical Skin Care Recipe Book
ingredients
3 cups Dead Sea salt (or any other sea salt)
1/2 cup pine (Pinus spp.) needle, finely chopped or ground in spice grinder
1/2 cup juniper (Juniperus communis) berry, crushed
2 tbsp (1 fl oz) sweet almond, grapeseed, or olive oil ( I used a pine needle infused oil)
6 drops fir essential oil (optional)
6 drops Virginia cedar wood essential oil (optional: I used rosemary because it was what I had on hand)
directions
combine salt, ground pine needles (or other evergreens) , and juniper berries in a medium sized bowl and mix thoroughly.
to make sure the essential oil stays diluted and dispersed when adding salts to bathwater, combine essential oil with oil before adding to the salt mixture. Stir thoroughly.
place mixture into a glass Ball® jar, quilted half pint and pint jars are my favorite, label, and store in a cool, dark place for 6 - 12 months.
use 1 -2 handfuls of salt per bath. Before draining, place a sink/bath strainer over the drain to catch the herb material. Alternatively, place salts in a muslin bag and hang over the faucet while filling the bath.
